seeing the everyday GIVEAWAY.

We're ending this week with a *bang*:  5 winners of a year subscription ($23.50 ea.) of the newest and most thoughtful + beautiful of publications straight out of Cambridge, MA.- Seeing the Everyday.  It's a magazine that finds "poetry in the prosaic."  They tell real and innocent stories of those in between moments that most parents have grown to cherish.  They celebrate family and the funny 3-year-old sayings and even drawings like those you have plastered all over your refrigerator.

It's art.  Each page is filled with amazing photographs, quotes and reminders in stories of why we exist; why the family is "the most critical, fundamental unit of society." It's a reader's dream and an artist's inspiration and a mother's retreat.  And completely advertisement free!  So refreshing.

They say, "We hope you'll see our purpose-- to strengthen the day to day interactions between parents and children.  These everyday interactions and prosaics.  They are the ordinary, common and seemingly meaningless moments of the day as we're trying to load the family in the car or prepare a meal together.  These prosaic moments are the very ingredients and substance that foster an atmosphere for relationships to deepen, grow and find greater happiness and appreciation."
It's one of those sentimental gifts that you'll be thankful to jump on: quarterly, advertisement free, 112 pages of goodness.  Subscribe here for the gift that keeps giving.

erin ruth GIVEAWAY.

In most cases it is what's on the inside that counts, but when it comes to gift wrapping, I am a firm believer in presentation. Which is why it was so easy for me to fall in love with Erin Ruth.
It began with a love of pattern, a passion for all things paper and a can-do attitude. Graphic designer, Erin Ruth, found her namesake company as a creative outlet with the desire to share her vision with the world. Inspired by life, Erin Ruth strives to combine current trends and beauty, all with a classic elegance.

The wrapping paper is thick making the perfect creases, the colors vibrant and the design perfect for any occasion (mothers day, fathers day, housewarming, baby). You'll impress even the toughest critics with her line of paper, ribbon and cards.

Today Erin Ruth wants to help you celebrate your next big event by offering one Tangled and True reader the ultimate in gift wrapping packages. The lucky winner will receive:

11 sheets of gift wrap (one of each design + two of winners choice), 5 note card sets and 9 ribbon sets to coordinate with gift wrap (a total value of $100).

What is your favorite gift wrap set?

pears and bears GIVEAWAY.

It's an easy task to celebrate this mother of 7 (!), Kayce Hughes: founder/designer/owner of Pears and Bears, her collection of pretty and vintage.

After a career that started with 6 years in the women's design department at Ralph Lauren, Kayce had her first child and transferred her talent to her home, where she could stay focused on her "first priority, which is being a mom."  Four years and four children later, as she tells it,
Hughes turned some 'vintage-looking' fabrics into nightshirts for her daughter.  "They were so cute that I had a seamstress sew up some dresses and shorts as well."  Marketing them under the label Pears and Bears, Hughes took her tot-size garments around to a handful of stores, who snatched them up.  What began with a simple nightshirt has now expanded to a near 200 piece collection that includes children's apparel, gift and layette collections and an ever expanding women's line of apparel and accessories.

This is good news for us because, with her children as her obvious inspiration, she creates quality and comfortable children's clothing packaged in playful and charming.  And due to the success of that children's line, a new women's collection is now available!

(a preview of their fall 2008 collection)

It's all very feminine and easy to wear-- the perfect combination for an on-the-go woman who's craving a new Spring wardrobe.  And to give you a taste of the sweetness that is Pears and Bears, one very lucky reader will win the ruffle blouse ($74) and coco skirt ($58) of your choice (green, pink or white).

It's hands down my favorite from the collection: easy to wear, a gentle (giving) fit, in the best of Spring colors (I chose green, of course).

What would you put in your cart?

the fine art of family GIVEAWAY.

I immediately took to their mantra that "family is always in fashion."

To begin our week of giveaways exclusively for you, The Fine Art of Family is celebrating the idea that "there's no gift more precious than a beautiful photo, beautifully presented."  Who better than a woman or mother to get that?

Monica Rich Kosann, a museum and "gallery exhibited" fine art photographer specializing in family portraiture, created this collection (and here) to showcase families' most special memories.
When I began designing my collection of Image Cases, I was inspired by vintage compact, cigarette cases, and lockets that were a part of everyday life at the turn of the century.  I believed these wonderful heirlooms could be reinvented to carry and display my clients' special images.  Each... is designed to become a timeless keepsake that will hold your most precious photos. -Monica Rich Kosann

Some are hand engraved, others limited editions, and all are presented in sterling silver or gold.  Each piece is truly unique and especially beautiful, as seen on the likes of Katie Holmes, Eva Longoria and Madonna.  But red-carpet targets or not, each of us can count these as objects of the heart.

On to giveaway: one of you will win the chic round floral half locket in sterling silver, $190.

"This single image case necklace is for that one perfect picture and is designed to be worn image side down, close to the heart. Available in Sterling Silver and 18K Gold, this half locket has on ¾-inch case embellished with our signature floral pattern and hangs on a 16-inch chain. Photos easily slide in the top of each image case."
Wowza!  Like we said.. only the best.

What is your favorite piece?

matilda jane.

I can't tell you how many times I've been browsing the websites of my favorite photographers wondering out loud to myself where they find these perfect Anthropologie-esque combinations for kids. Well I am about to unfold to you the world of Matilda Jane. One that will suck you in and leave you wanting every outfit and combination more than the last. You may even find yourself gasping at the brilliance of it all, I did anyway.

The mom behind Matilda Jane Clothing claims she is no designer (although I beg to differ):
"I wish I could say I am a "designer". I pretty much consider myself just a girl who can't stop her brain from spinning. It is crazy. I just get an idea and go with it. Inspiration? I am not sure, it just happens. You know, wake up in the middle of the night and "Whoa, I have a great idea." It just happens."

Whether she calls herself a designer or not, her clothes are incredible. Perfect combinations, something I am always looking for but can never find or put together myself. Not too matchy, not too funky, just exactly what you're looking for.

celestial parade.

A new front-runner in modern crib bedding from Q Collection Junior.  It's muted + graphic.  I like it!  100% organic with reversible bumper and crib skirt.  "...All about versatility."

kinderhaus.

Kahaus's children range (kinderhaus) includes the trainrack and steelscapes (boats pictured above) in "bold colors" and "familiar motifs" that present a new variety of kid wall art.  They're artistic, magnetic, durable (laser cut and made to withstand the elements) and sure to survive the test of time.

Made by an Australian mom and available at our favorite Kindergallery.

amuse me.

I count it brilliant when a product can be designed with simplicity and functionality but still stand out amongst others similar.  Amuse Me Baby creates nursing covers with modern fabric combinations (I especially love Ferris Yellow) and a pattern of small hand tied bows sewn inside for the baby to play with while nursing.  This is genius and an anticipated solution for mothers like myself who had one of those babies that just wouldn't cooperate under a cover because it was.. boring.  Amuse Me holds true to it's name by making an intimate experience comfortable, discreet and happy for mom and baby.
Each cover is reversible with 25.5 x 32.5 inch fabric panels on both sides.  The 20-inch neck strap is easily adjustable with one hand and fit securely over your head and around your neck.  The boning in the neckline of the cover allows you and only you to see your baby and for your baby to see you.  The patent pending spiral pattern of bright ribbons will Amuse baby keeping their attention under the cover while nursing.  Baby is Amused and Mommy maintains her modesty.  The ribbon side of the cover also makes a wonderful tummy time blanket on the go.  One item, several uses, everything should be this multi-functional!
And because they are a thoughtful, mom-run company, the covers are 100% cotton and shipped with a mesh laundry bag for a gentle machine wash.  6 style options and a pleasant customer service policy makes this your new go-to.  $65 and worth the peace of mind!

tangled and true deal: 20% off orders over $60 with the code "TangledTrue".  The offer is good May 1 through June 30th.

baby name wizard.

My all time favorite baby name book, seriously it can't be beat. My copy is so used it is literally falling apart at the seams. I am slightly obsessed with baby names whether I am pregnant or not, which I am currently not, but still I find myself browsing the pages, dreaming up names, checking to see what good sibling names would be, highlighting, marking, folding down page corners.

Favorite features: Look up any name, the name of a child you already have and it lists off sibling names in boy and girl choices. A picture graph with every name showing you the trends from the beginning of time (ok not really but a long time ago) until present day, and the amount of not every day names it provides. So wonderful, really.

Some favorite names of mine?

For a girl: Daphne, Violet, Ruby and Scarlett
For a boy: Oliver, Phineas, Amos and Griffin

We know you all have favorite names and we'd love to hear them if you're willing to share...
Happy name browsing.
